alternative christmas tree by cohncentric is this year’s first and i hope you agree that we are starting with a loud bang!
cohncentric is raluca cohn, whom i’ve met through friends and whose amazing instagram is endlessly surprising (if you like food and beautiful pictures of it, you must check it!)
i’ll share a short film to help you get an idea about her and her work.
below, she introduces herself and her tree. i love her tree! i hope you do, too!
i am in love with food, spices, textures, tastes, smells, details, flowers, nature and taste combos.
this is my vision and creation of an alternative edible christmas tree, which comprises all the above listed.
the inspiration in creating is strongly linked to a few of my favourite taste combos: orange & chocolate, spices and citrus fruits and one of my obsessions: edible flowers.
so, here you have it: dark chocolate chip cake base + white chocolate glaze + fruits + spices, meringue, flowers + meringue dust and coconut shavings…and lots of toothpicks.
the cake, the fruits, the meringues, the flowers.
the spices were soaked in water and boiled briefly, thus providing the festive scent in our home for the following few days.
nothing gets wasted.
the tree has a very strong and festive winter scent. well, it had. we ate it.
thanks for having me!
i believe a version of this tree can be done by anyone, right? we can all use sweet or savoury ingredients to make our own edible tree: two birds with one stone!
if you make trees, instagram them and tag me so i can see them. i can’t wait to see what you come up with!
thank you very much, raluca, for the delicious tree and for the inspiration!
