august 2025 finds is here!
1. astiberri is a bilbaina publishing house. so, when i was in bilbao recently i picked up the last 3 volumes of cantina de medianoche by yaro abe. i’ve read them in a blink. they were all wonderful, as usual. 100% recommended!
MAGAZINES
2. british vogue sent zadie smith to ghana with her friend and long time hairdresser to portray her. my other favourite story was gillian anderson telling us how it felt to transform her fashion persona in decades.
MUSIC
3. you can now watch fontaines dc live in porto in 2025.
4. paul banks from interpol did a whole ass album with rza from wu tang clan in 2016. and giant off it is a banger.
5. killa fonic tries his hand at country music.
6. warhaus is back with a new single, simple pleasures. the new album will only drop at the beginning of 2027.
7. billy idol is 70.
8. diamond rowe is the guitar player of tetrarch. i don’t know about the band, but i love diamond.
EXHIBITIONS

9. i went to london to see anish kapoor at hayward gallery. i liked how he used the space. very satisfying!
10. tracey emin at tate modern was a bit less dramatic. but i do love how she shows what it really is to be a woman.
11. i planned the trip to catch ruth asawa’s retrospective at guggenheim bilbao. wonderful! check the link for a virtual tour.
12. by chance, i was able to visit the new faro santander. designed by david chipperfield and opened by rey felipe himself, the museum has a mexican art exhibition featuring lots of frida kahlo. lucky me, since her tate modern exhibition was sold out.
TV SERIES
13. while in london, i watched 3 seasons of the diplomat. it was rather meh. the forth season starts in october.
