back in barcelona is a set of pictures from the first two days of my short stay in town.
i went to bcn for a few days to see friends and reconnect with one of my favourite cities. my to-do list included what are generally considered secondary attractions. but i was there a few time before, so i needed to stay away from all the tourist places. they say the city is overflowing with tourists. well, the center certainly is. but there are many places where you can enjoy the city as it is, with its locals and its food and its sights.
this is torre bellesguard by antonio gaudi. located up on the hill of tibidabo, it is inhabited by its owners, who get to enjoy the unique building, the swimming pool and the magnificent views. this sounds like a modern fairy tale to me.
can you see the dragon head below? it’s part of the roof, alongside with the cross of saint george, both referencing the old biblical legend.
cosmocaixa is the local science museum. it is mainly visited by kids but we had to see the replica of the amazonian forest. because not only does it have animals and fish and birds in the flooded forest it also has actual rain! i loved it!
next on the list was el parc del turo del putxet. we went there for the view of the city below.
then, we hopped into a bus that took us to another park with great views: parc de guinardo.
from there we walked all the way down to hospital de sant pau, a beautiful modernist complex that one can visit. it was late when we arrived so we walked on.
the next day we took a trip to walden 7, a residential complex located in a town outside of barcelona, sant just desvern. i have a few pics and i’ll try to research it and make a dedicated post.
back in town, we walked around for a few hours.
my friends were in town for primavera sound. by chance, we came across this festival showcase in the back yard of cccb.
after they left to the festival, i spent some time watching the skaters in front of macba, in raval.
stay tuned for more pics from the less photographed parts of barcelona!
