barcelona day 6 is my last full day in beautiful bcn.
we took the avinguda del parallel this time and walked about half an hour to plaza d’espanya. the weather was windy and rainy, not unexpected for the beginning of december.
we first went to caixa forum. we spent a few hours there, checking out the exhibitions and the very cool selection of the book shop. i liked the shop so much that i had to buy a few books. now i wish i bought more, because what i took home proved to be really interesting!
we enjoyed the three shows they had but my favourite by far was genesis by sebastiao salgado. he takes wonderful black and white photographs of nature. the exhibition was unbelievable! a trip around the world, revealing fascinating details of life on earth. read more about this project here.
we had lunch in the neighborhood and then walked uphill on montjuic. in front of the national museum of catalunya, there is one of the best places to get a great view of the city.
through the clouds, you can see the sagrat cor church on top of tibidabo. check out my pics from that side of the city!
then we went to see the montjuic communications tower by santiago calatrava.
we took a short look at the olympic stadium.
we spent a very short while in fundacio joan de miro.
this is another of my favourite spots in the city: the swimming pool featured in slow, kylie monigue’s video.
then, we walked all the way back to our hotel, where i left my mom. i went out in raval for a few more hours. i spent my last evening at caravelle, definitely my favourite hang out.
one last post to go: stay tuned!
