the 7th edition of the vienna fair (12-15 may) starts soon:
“over 120 galleries from more than 20 countries focus on art from central and south-eastern europe, showcasing peerless presentations of contemporary art work in several areas of fine arts: painting, graphic art, sculpture, photography, media, installation and performance.”
with a very detailed bilingual website that has info divisions for exhibitor, visitor and press (smooth!) and a thoroughly updated facebook page, the organization of the event seems to be up to the regularly high austrian standard. and, as a highlight, on sunday there is a “presentation of patricia teodorescu, artist from romania, to whom the video edition 02 is dedicated”.
i’m bummed i can’t be there but if you happen to be in vienna, do not miss this!
also, this weekend, 14-15.05, in tokyo, takes place the 17th edition of the design festa. it sounds amazing: “a biannual international art event and everyone can exhibit as long as its original”. i can’t imagine a better way to spend my weekend than browse the 3,000 booths in search of little finds, mingling with the 60,000 expected visitors.
this year, they have something called the postcard project: the participating artists design original post cards which sell for 100 yen (less than 1 euro) and all the money are going to the victims of the 11th of march earthquake. for updates, follow the blog.
i am disappointed and thinking about teleportation…
