a few days ago, celine revealed the pre-fall 2012 collection. i have been watching mrs. phoebe philo‘s comeback for a while now and she’s been surprising me and exceeding my expectations repeatedly: the new collection is expectedly exceptional.

after graduating from saint martins, working at chloe (first, alongside stella mccartney, and then on her own, as the label’s creative director), phoebe retired at the tender age of 33 in order to spend more time with her family. two years later, she was back: bernard arnault, president of the lvmh luxury conglomerate, appointed her as the new creative director of céline. each of the collections she has delivered ever since were knock outs! in every detail: the clothes, the accessories, the media campaigns. celine has become, as intended, one of the must-watch labels, a relevant player, both artistically and commercially. phoebe received the appreciation of the public, of the critics and of the industry for her post-minimal, interesting and directional design.

i’ll rarely rave about clothes and such but this is too good not to share: over-sized, quiet, grown up outfits that mean business. if there is one thing i don’t like about the collection is the use of fur. i hope it’s fake…
