diesel art gallery is one of the many tokyoite galleries i visited. the gallery is part of the diesel shibuya store. art is displayed alongside women’s and men’s apparel and the brand’s furniture line, in unexpected harmony.
i found out about the show from a flyer i had picked up somewhere. it was called reality & fantasy and it was a collaboration of artists sarah illenberger and miho kinomura.
i love the kind of art that manages to put a smile on my face. and this show was exactly that!
sarah illenberger is a munich-born, central saint martins-educated, berlin-based artist. she does visual translations using various media. i love her playful approach and mesmerizing pieces. they make me consider trying to do similar stuff. i wouldn’t be as good as she is, but it’d be good exercise.
find detailed accounts of her work here.
click here to purchase fine prints of her pieces.
i loved her work so much that i added her journal on my reader list.
miho kinomura acted as the curator and film director of the exhibition. see her client list here.
find diesel art gallery on their website, facebook and twitter. their current exhibition is extreme ar core image by artist umezawa sum tree.
