hotel daniel vienna is a modern 116-room hotel located in the up and coming neighbourhood of the newly-renovated westbahnhof.

after visiting its 3 siblings in graz, i just had to see this new hotel in the austrian capital. especially that the building is topped with an artwork. i mean misconceivable, the work of viennese artist erwin wurm. it is a little boat that bends over the edge of the building, lending it that interesting edge that will catch everybody’s eye.

i was shown several of the types of rooms available: the junior suite, the smart, the panorama and the hammock.

and last, but not least, the trailer outside the hotel. it’s a super funky vintage mirror trailer from the 50s that was converted into a very comfortable apartment. i love it!

they have bikes to rent for 5 euro/day and vespas for 15 euro/day. your pets are welcome. and their most unexpected feature is the fact that they are gardening (tomatoes, pumpkins, cucumbers, herbs and grapes). also, they have beehives on the roof producing their own kind of honey. a great idea, given the fact that the hotel is located right next door from the botanical garden and the belvedere palace. how’s that for sustainable?

the bakery is the in-house restaurant. beside their own kitchen, they have a local lady bringing in her home baked goods. yum!
