one of my favourite  museums, the mumok in Vienna, has an opening today: hyper real, the passion of the real in painting and photography. a nice detail: entrance is free if you are under 19 or if you are a student under 27.

the neighboring leopold museum has an opening today as well: ringturm. art. the vienna insurance group collection, a selection of approximately 100 works by artists including oskar kokoschka, herbert boeckl, arnulf rainer, etc. they also have another amazing show, masterpieces from the beyeler foundation, with an impressive selection including paul cézanne, claude monet, edgar degas, vincent van gogh, francis bacon, jackson pollock, roy lichtenstein, andy warhol, pablo picasso, henri matisse, alberto giacometti, paul klee, etc.
the gaugain show at london’s tate modern was sold out for a certain period of time even before it opened. in order to accommodate the art-hungry crowds the museum has extended the opening hours on sundays to 10 p.m.

jeff koons is showing popeye sculpture in paris until november the 20th.
