july 2025 finds is here!

BOOKS
1. i’ve been struggling with benjamin graham’s the intelligent investor. warren buffet recommends it as “by far the best book on investing ever written”. you should take that into account that it was first published back in 1949. in my edition, each chapter came with a commentary chapter. i read the book like i’d read in italian, i didn’t understand half of it, but i still learned a lot.
MAGAZINES
2. i went through konfekt’s summer 2025 issue. my favourite articles were the ones about how the danish swim in the summer and about the lady who makes modern azulejos.
3. the best story in monocle no. 185 was the top for the most livable cities in the world. it’s always my favourite! but i also loved the article about newstands in different countries.
MUSIC
4. bibi and jackson wang have a nice summery hit on their hands. a hot video, too!
5. idles have a fire new single out: rabbit run.
6. in the mood for love has always felt like a long music video to me.
7. i have saved a few documentaries about camaron de la isla, but i’ve only managed to watch this one.
8. i have a playlist of new music i hardly ever get to. one of these miles davis concerts was on it.
then, i realized the channel has all the 9 concerts that form the string of 1960 european tour. the second and third videos seem to be the same. actually, there were two concerts on the same day in stockholm. i subscribed to the channel!
9. yes, it’s the song in the midjourney ad, proud by catching flies.
10. i tried to find another track from bambara i like. but slither in the rain is still the only one.
11. i listened to the many albums of sebastian tellier. i listened to that soundtrack album as well as the one he made for dita von tease (+the remix album). i only saved domesticated. i will listen to it again.
12. are there bad idles concerts out there? i haven’t seen any. i might’ve shared this before, but it’s still fire!
TV SERIES
13. so and just like that finally died its slow, painful death. lame, lazy, disappointing. i kept hoping they’d start making an effort, but they didn’t. they even made the final episodes shorter. shameful, given the level of budget they had to play with.
FILMS
14. i started watching little for issa rae, but i stayed for the kid, marsai martin. it’s a kids film, i think.
15. i went to see sirat because director oliver laxe is from neighbouring galicia. the film was nominated for the palme d’or and winner of the prix du jury at cannes 2025.
the music by kangding ray was a character in itself and the photography by dop mauro herce was remarkable. unfortunately, the story was rather weak, but i cannot discuss it without giving spoilers. interesting trivia: both augusting and pedro almodovar are among the producers.
EXHIBITIONS
16. we went back to see the maurizio cattelan show during daytime. we didn’t miss the new alvaro aalto show, either. serralves delivers!
YOUTUBE
17. one day, i’ll go to brazil to see the architecture.
18. stanley tucci has been very active in the past years. he’s been publishing books and travelling throughout italy with national geographic. i have only seen this episode, but it’s very good. recommended!
19. huckberry videos make me wonder when i’m going back next. i love it!
20. this one of a kind cemetery has always been on my bucket list. discover the happy cemetery in sapanta, romania.
21. the older i get, the lower my tolerance for narcissists gets. i tried with amanda palmer, i read her book, tried to listen to her stuff. but her attention whoredom is just too much for me.
