BOOKS
1. i read imperiul pisicilor by alexandru tocilescu, it’s a bunch of short stories in romanian. i loved pisica lui dumnezeu.
2. and then i read eu at al, tocilescu’s first book, also short stories. among them, a full-fledged rape fantasy? wtf!?
3. filme romanesti by dan sociu was a very short book of short stories. lots of sex stuff, but weak and provincial.
4. i ended the month with on writing by steven king. much better.
MANGA
3. i finally finished la profezia dell’armadillo by zerocalcare. i picked it up in the new paper cover version while passing through treviso.
4. i re-read akira volume 4 by katsuhiro otomo. every time i read the manga, i think about seeing the film again.
MAGAZINES
5. the latest issue of british vogue has doechi on the cover. a good choice. but, in general, i’m less impressed by their content than ever. i wonder if i’d miss anything if i gave up subscribing.
MUSIC
6. it’s wet leg’s world, we just live in it! we need many more girls like rhian teasdale. i love her persona and her cool style.
i’m glad they gave up cottage core.

7. in their tiny desk, bloc party sang 1 new track and 3 tracks off their early albums.

12. this billy idol gig is a real blast from the past. were you even born in 1983? billy was 28 at the time.
13. slipknot’s wait and bleed is a classic!
14. japan adopted the tiny desk concept and they’re setting the concerts up in schools.

FILMS
i saw three films this month, in the cinema. i’ve been meaning to re-watch, re-read things from my youth and see if i still like them.
16. first, i went to see eraserhead again, 30 years later. i was surprised to remember so much of it. i enjoyed being dragged back into that dark world with its opressing sound scape.
17. and then, i saw in the mood for love again, 25 years later. i remember i loved it back in 2000. it turns out that i still do.
18. i saw celine song’s materialists in cinema, too. a bit long, but worth seeing. it could be a great first date film.
TV SERIES
19. i watched the 2 seasons of big little lies. good enough storylines, good cast, great setting.
EXHIBITIONS
20. maurizio cattelan has a new retrospective at serralves. we went to the opening.
21. for the 3/3 paula rego shows, we went to viseu for meninas exemplares.
22. i enjoyed the 10th edition of open house porto. we make the best of each year’s offer in order to discover the more private side of the city.
PODCASTS
23. billy talks to gavin rossdale about the new bush album.
24. charlize theron speaks about trauma and its aftermath. interesting!
25. i’ve listened to good bad millionaire: the eike batista and lebron james episodes.
26. bella freud had a talk with mia khalifa and with nick knight.
