the first day in kanazawa was rainy. really rainy and reaaaally depressing. the sakura, which had just peaked the previous weekend, was literally going down the drain. i bought the clear plastic umbrellas all the locals were using. also, i visited the 21st century museum of contemporary art that brought me to town in the first place. spent as much time in there as i could. spent the evening with my american host and her english-teaching colleagues in an indian restaurant. downloaded my pictures, charged my batteries, took a shower and slept well.
