lago trasimeno in 30 pictures is the time we took to drive around the lake and enjoy its quiet beauty on our way from perugia to arezzo. this day was the only day we spent during this trip in the province of perugia of umbria.
we first stopped in a village called san savino. it looked deserted which was not at all a bad thing.
i wish i could have been here for the sagra del gambero at that time but well… next time! i’m sure it was great fun.
we took off and stopped a few times to take pictures from the edge of the lake.
we stopped again to buy a watermelon. we ended up eating it a few days later, in rome.
and then we stopped for a while in castiglione del lago. as usual, we parked outside the walls and went in. the town is located on a peninsula jutting out in the middle of the lake. what’s interesting is that i researched the place a little and found out that it used to be an island. hmm!
if the place looks deserted, it wasn’t really. i had to wait for the people to clear my shots. but it was not crowded either, as you can imagine.
we walked around and had to have some cheap pizza because it was so late for lunch all the real restaurants were closed.
below you see the castle of the lion. you could pay 5 euros to visit the walls, but we feared rain was coming. and it did, 5 minutes before we got in our car to go back to arezzo.
i definitely recomend taking a tour around lake trasimeno and spending a quiet and relaxing day in the immediate proximity of water. it was amazing in unexpected ways!
next, the last 3 posts: all from rome, the last city on our itinerary!
