montcalm at the brewery was my home away from home during my recent stay in london.
i liked the combination between the classical british architecture and the modern design. i liked the room and all the ancillary services. i liked it that they understand that guests appreciate free wifi. i loved it that their amneties matched my favourite hermes scent. and i liked the small box of candy we found on our pillows every evening.
the staff were very attentive and thorough. part of them were romanian which made our interaction even more pleasant. we were assisted in every matter, throughout the week.
the public spaces were made so much more interesting by the complex flower arrangements. imagine blossoming branches of plum, hyacinths and calla lilies. wonderful!
also, you could find red delicious apples all over the place. i thought it was nice of them to make sure that their guests’ next snack was healthy.
i enjoyed our room. beside the great compartmentalization, the bed was comfortable, the bath facilities were great and the snack options were very interesting. i couldn’t complain if i tried.
the 5-star hotel is located in the city, 2 minutes away from the barbican center. it has two in-house restaurants i unfortunately haven’t tried: the chiswell street dining rooms and the jugged hare.
across the street, you can find the london city suites by the montcalm, a small townhouse perfect for longer stays.
there are two tube stations nearby, barbican and mooregate, to take you anywhere you need in london.

find montcalm on their website and facebook and book a room there if you are in town. you won’t be disappointed, i promise!
