i first saw natalie joos on jak & jil. she was wearing an eye-popping combo of pale blue louboutin booties, a cut out skirt (i found out later it was actually a tsumori chisato dress), studded givenchy belt and a red half-unraveled pullover! she instantly won me over! i had to find out more about her immediately!
after a little research session, what did i learn? she is not only adored by the street style mafia, but she is also one of them herself. her blog has recently been relaunched to mark the start of the collaboration with style.com and it’s totally bookmark-worthy!
she loves vintage and has a very interesting way of incorporating it with designer pieces. her colour blocking and pattern mixing skills have me (and everybody else) inspired. but don’t be fooled, this cute gent-born, ny-based fashionista has many different hats. with a diploma in journalism (her 400+ pages thesis was called the ideal standards of beauty and the influence of mass media), she started as glenn o’brien’s personal assistant, then worked for 6 years as studio manager for photographer craig mcdean, and later established her own eponymous casting agency for models.
natalie joos is currently a full time casting director and fashion consultant with a decent amount of influence, somehow finding the time to guest write (one of her part time jobs is contributing editor for the last magazine) and even take photographs for fashion magazines.
say after me: i wanna raid her closet! :)
