ne is a hair salon. not that you can tell: it’s extremely stripped down to the basics.
designed by teruhiro yanagihara and opened in late 2010, the place looks bare and sculptural. a big concrete stairway serves as a place to sit as well as a display area for products (am i the only one who thinks “the rem koolhaas prada store in ny?”). the space is divided by misleading mirror screens and all the usual clutter is tucked away in especially designed cabinets whose wafer thin doors close and disappear into the white walls.
i first read about it in wallpaper, but now that i researched, i also found a designboom post on them. so, in case you’d like to see more pictures, click here!
i spent 4 days in osaka. i couldn’t make it to the harajuku toni&guy where i got such a great manga haircut last year. my nagoya haircut sucked. if only i knew about this amazing minimalist place, i would have totally gone there…
perhaps next time 🙂
