one day in tarragona was a great last minute idea!
in theory, i was going to barcelona for 4 days. in practice, my bf was nice and helped me change my ticket so that i could spend some time in tarragona.
i woke up in the morning and hopped in the train. i knew the tracks would run along the edge of the sea for a good portion of the way and i was looking forward to it.
i arrived in tarragona, i got off and found a street map sign. i decided on a loose itinerary and set off.
you can see the roman amphitheater down there. it’s probably the largest of the roman remains you will find around town.
this was one of the few things on my list. i went in to see la capilla de san pablo and i loved it.
this is it!
can you spot the wise sleeping ginger cat?
this is the main attraction of the day: la catedral basilica de tarragona. 5 euros will buy you access to this complicated cathedral and to all of its annexes. it was beautiful and empty, most probably because i was there on a friday morning.
my favorite part was the garden, hidden, sunny and quiet.
afterwards, i spet my hours just walking around. and i have no complaints.
this is mercado publico. i couldn’t get a better pic because of the ongoing works. but inside, nothing was affected.
this is a cheese library and i wish i could get all the knowledge it had to offer.
this is el serrallo, a part of the town that used to be a fishing village.
i walked back to the train station and i spent my train ride to bercelona day dreaming about future times when i’ll get off the train in random tiny train stations on the edge of the sea.
i hadn’t visited tarragona before and i really enjoyed my time there. check it out if you can!
