september 2024 finds is here!

BOOKS
1. i’m zipping through tokyo junkie: 60 years of bright lights and back alleys . . . and baseball by robert whiting. it’s about tokyo’s decades worth of transformation and i can’t put it down. i’ve already added some of his other books to my wish list.
MANGA
2. i read zerocalcare’s second book., un pulpo alla gola. i liked it. it covers zero’s life when he was younger and it features his well-known characters.
MAGAZINES
3. the current issue of british vogue has florence pugh on the cover.
MUSIC
4. i’ve gotten a little stuck on an old favourite: everlasting gaze by the smashing pumpkins. interesting fact: most, maybe all, pumpkins music is written by billy corgan.
and, because one thing leads to another, i watched the 2h podcast billy corgan did with joe rogan. as well as the apple music podcast.
lastly, two more pumpkins favourites: stand inside your love and the end is the beginning is the end.
5. magnus is dead now. and this is their last gig in ancienne belgique.
6. i looped can you feel my heart by bring me the horizon for ever. such a banger.
7. one of my favourites, la ritournelle, turned 20 years old. a timeless classic.
8. i even found the time to check out lars eidinger’s album called i’ll break ya leg. it’s instrumental, atmospheric electro.
9. 4444 is woosung’s new album. i like the last track on the album, let there be light.
10. i’ve listened again to rm’s album. it’s interesting. my current favourite is heaven.
PODCASTS
11. i’m almost through the 3rd season of bbc’s good, bad billionaire. i find it interesting.
TV SERIES
12. i’ve started watching the brand new mini-series called uzumaki. it’s inspired by the homonym 98-99 cult horror manga by junji ito. it is directed by hiroshi nagahama.
13. for some reason, i’ve been watching atashin’chi, a japanese animation series. click to watch the video on youtube.
FILMS
14. persian lessons was good and i’d recommend it. both lars eidinger and his co-star, argentinian polyglot nahuel pérez biscayart, are great to watch.
15. the crow is a very long music video. i watched for bill skarsgaard and fka twigs. be warned: the imdb score is a well-deserved 4.6.
16. i watched lords of chaos by jonas ackerlund. the story is based on actual (gory) events. i’d recommend that you don’t watch it if you have a weak stomach. it’s norwegian black metal, after all.
i liked rory culkin, jack kilmer (yes, val’s kid) and valter skarsgard (yes, bill’s brother). the music is by sigur ros.
17. and then, of course, i watched a documentary about the exact same events. it’s called until the light takes us and audrey h. made it.
18. blink twice by zoe kravitz was weak. watch it on a flight if you really have to.
YOUTUBE
19. this is a must-watch video about how women were perceived and treated.
20. this is a video about who not to fall in love with.
21. these 3 videos are just a few of the many interesting ones on soft white underbelly. enjoy!
