sibiu rediscovered is the visual diary of my recent day trip.
i went for a flash job and had a few spare hours to reconnect with the place. i haven’t been there in longer that i care to admit and it was a quiet pleasure to see it again.
this is the view of my room. the dome and spires belong to the nearby romanian orthodox cathedral. its official name is the holy trinity metropolitan cathedral. scroll down for more pictures.
the reception area of my stuck-in-time hotel, imparatul romanilor. the decor was so retro that i felt like i was an extra in a turn of the century film. they even have a heated pool in their spa area. spending a rainy night there was not bad!
i like the places that are a little off, more than the tourist highlights. i find a crooked house or peeled paint more honest.
“oh, hai! i am not alone, i’m here with my brother and mother!” befriending locals is never a bad idea, right?
i loved it that it was so easy for me to take pictures without people. the rain was about to start and that helped!
this is the famous liars’ bridge. the banners advertise the fact that tiff sibiu was in town for a couple of days.
the change of the guard in the big square.
this is one of the corners of the rectangular astra park.
although i was there for a very limited amount of time, i do have one more related post. it’s about the place i wish i could go back to as often as i like. stay tuned!
