siena in 50 pictures is the shots i could take of during my short stay.
our airbnb was slightly outside the city walls so we had to walk to the city center.
this is one of the entrances to the city center but we took the escalators for a shortcut. we were both here before so we went directly to the best part.
this is the basilica di san francesco. there is a night time pic of it below since we made a loose tour.
but this is not its inside. this is another nearby church whose name i don’t know.
siena is gorgeous and you can expect to find unbelievably beautiful places everywhere, just watch out.
this is il palazzo pubblico with its torre del mangia in the world famous piazza del campo.
i plan to come once to see the bi-annual horse race that takes place around this very square (yes, i noticed the irony of a round square). the race is called palio di siena and it has two dates: the 2nd of july and the 16th of august.
if i’m not mistaken, this is the back of the duomo.
this is the mascot of a food store. the cinghiale aka the wild boar is a tuscan delicacy i’ve never tried. maybe some other time.
this is the spectacular front of the duomo.
aperitivo in a place where the server turned out to be romanian and we ended out talking about what we should and shouldn’t miss while in tuscany.
i find this place unbelievably picturesque and dreamy.
the breathtaking piazza salimbeni in front of the homonymous palace: wow! can you se the man reading under the statue?
we went back home to sleep because there’s so much more to be seen and done during this trip.
