timisoara in 100 pictures part 1 is the first half of the best pictures i took during my recent city break.
we started with a borderline early lunch at local fixture, llyod. i loved the atmosphere and the food so we came back for dinner the next day.
i dropped my luggage and went to discover the city on foot. it was overcast and ocassionally rainy but what could i do? anyway, there is an upside to bad weather: there are less people in the streets.
i set the botanical park as my first loose destination. it was empty and it smelled very nicely of wet plants.
i walked though it and found my self on one side of the grid that is the center of the town. i walked around it and admired the ubiquious beautiful buildings. and you will see below that i’m not exagerating: the architecture is really worth the trouble.
this is the spacious piata unirii.
and this is the newly-restored casa bruck.
this is the piata libertatii.
and this is the piata victoriei, very close to our airbnb apartment.
the opera and the german national theatre share the same building.
this is the timisoara orthodox cathedral. the interior is impressive but unfortunately my camera couldn’t take pictures that were accurate enough.
then i walked into the parcul central anton von scudier where i found this monument of the unknown soldier..
i found a lot of street art in this area. i wonder what used to be here.
this was my favourite piece: traditional but modern at the same time.
this post couldn’t even cover one entire day. i’ll post tomorrow the second part of my city break.
stay tuned to see the beautiful bega river that runs through the city!
